“Surrogate” is a debut album of Moscow-based ACID MAFIA. Dry, rough and heavy, focused and simple — it’s not overly produced and that leaves delicate subtleties and twisted dynamics for an inquiring mind to study. There is lots of free space available for the mind to move in and operate about. Intricate harmonic relationships, strange rhythmic patterns and ambiguous movements produce the overall feeling of attachment to chaotic universe. This is not an easy listening but so is smooth jazz — just a matter of cultural context.
A sweet free sampler of Hyperboloid artists, with love from Russia. Particularly fond of Fisky's key hopper "Raiden"! With a bouncing beat, some hooking piano stabs, and an aurora synth chiming in, this PS2 nostalgic hit makes all marks for a perfect fighting game Chicago house turn-around. DJ Home Movies
Brilliant rhythms that pull on juke and jungle but create something entirely new and arguably better. Mixes well with everything. And every track just goes so hard, really difficult to pick a fave. WompBlog.com
